Life is fluid.
As a global citizen, I embrace change and I am inspired by my varying surroundings and complex interactions. I base my artistic approach on such energies of co-existence. I meditate on feelings, reactions to energies and rhythms in an intricate world. In order to tame my labyrinth of emotions, I find myself drawn between the organic and the organized.
I achieve this state through the construction of many layers of various materials in a lengthy process. I create abstract pieces and work in various media, but often embrace mixed media.
During my childhood in Germany, I was exposed to the Rudolf Steiner approach of storytelling through water colors and I also created plaster reliefs. Later, I experimented with acrylic, oil and ink under the direction of a Chinese artist in Malaysia. I discovered the medium of encaustic during my stay in New York; using hot wax with pigment allows me to enhance my artistic processes. I often create underlying tensions through the build up of structures. Most of my work has a textured surface.
Setting a stage for my art and allowing the viewer to partake in my emotional expressions of the world defines my intent at creating aesthetic harmony.
